| There Is A Reason Our Students Start As Babies And Are Still Dancing Even After They Graduate! |
|
When choosing a dance studio it's important to know who you are sending your child to each week. You want them to be qualified, you want them to learn to dance, make new friendships, and learn some discipline. But one thing many people do not realize is that the person you send your child to becomes their role model. You will see your child take on many traits of their dance teacher as well. As a dance teacher I am more than just that. I grew up wanting to be just like my dance teacher and because of that I realized how important it is to these students that WHO I am in every aspect of my life is so important. So who is Debbie Reynolds? I am a mom of two boys, a wife, a dance teacher, a mentor, a friend, a counselor, a disciplinarian, an enforcer, and a role model. All of these things are part of my role as a dance teacher. I know, everything I am is what your children see and that is so important to me to be the best person I can be. Weather it's in the grocery store, or in the dance room, or going to my students school concerts, or even their birthday parties. What a pleasure it is to be such an important part of each of my student’s lives. I have been teaching for 17 years now. I opened my own studio in 1999, and we are celebrating our 10th Year together. I was the director and teacher at the Westfield YMCA for 3 years prior. My teaching started at High Performance 17 years ago. I grew up winning many national competition but started teaching early because teaching always meant more to me than winning a competition. I have attended and am certified in levels I and II by Dance Educators of America, and I am currently attending my 3rd year at Dance Masters of America. I am also Secretary for Nation Association of Dance and Affiliated Arts Chapter #20. I attend conventions regularly so I stay current on all the newest techniques and styles of dance. I continue my education because I feel as a teacher we can only continue our teaching by continuing our learning. |
